Hello, I am Jorge. Welcome to JorgeBernier5D.com.
I am a self taught artist from Colombia who began my drawing career at the age of 12. At the time, my drawing style was greatly influenced by the comic book Spawn. Its creator Todd McFarlane and the main penciller at the time Greg Capullo inspired me to develop my own drawing style. Since I didn't have the resources to pay for art school, I spent the little money that I had on buying Spawn comic books, which I used to hone my drawing skills. Due to the lack of opportunity to become a comic artist, I shifted my attention towards graphic design. Getting into the graphic design world allowed me to explore design tools that later on I used to enhanced my drawings. At first I explored traditional art such as oil painting and airbrushing, then I turned mt attention toward the digital world. This is when I learned to use Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator—two software that changed the course of my artistic career.
Not yet satisfied with my range of artistic abilities, I decided to explore the CGI world. After watching the first The Lord Of The Rings, I realized that there was a hole that needed to be filled in my life. I was seduced by the idea of 3D modeling my characters and being able to animate them. At first I learned the 3D software maya, but since it was too heavy on my computer—call it destiny—I searched for alternatives until i came across Blender. Ever since, Blender has become my right hand for making 3D art.
In 2009, I moved to the United States. I spent the first years drawing and learning English at Chemeketa Community College in Salem, OR. Later, I moved to Portland and got my associate's Degree in Applied Science Multimedia at Portland Community College. During the last year at PCC, I met with David Bravo, who at the time was the supervisor of a small design team for Airstream Adventures Northwest. When he saw my skills he quickly approached me and offered me an opportunity to join his team. Over three years later I am still working with them and have strengthened my graphic design skills, as well as learned the technical aspect of designing Airstreams. I don't consider myself an interior designer, nor an engineer, but with the opening of Ultimate Airstreams (a custom division of AANW) I have had to get my hands dirty a few times to make the dreams of airstreamers a reality.
I am still pursuing my dreams of becoming a comic book artist, a 3D artist, and a character developer. In the mean time, I enjoy living in Oregon and exploring all the amazing scenery the Northwest has to offer.
Whether you came here looking for a good candidate for your company or simply looking for inspiration from a fellow artist, I thank you very much for taking the time to hear my story. By the way, I am still terrified of stumbling upon a bear ;)
